Armor of God: Helmet of Salvation

This next piece of armor may sound like something you already familiar with-- a helmet! We wear helmets when we race bikes and ride scooters because we know it is important to protect our heads. Likewise, we need a spiritual helmet to safeguard our heads from the spiritual dangers.

Ephesians 6:17 says, "and take on the helmet of salvation...".

The spiritual helmet of salvation protects what is inside our heads; our thoughts, minds and emotions.  But how does salvation manage to keep our thoughts safe? Well, salvation is God saving our lives through what Jesus did on the cross. The power of God raised Jesus from the dead and now we are invited to take part in that same salvation power.

To put on the helmet of salvation means to always remember the victory of Jesus over the cross. We may sometimes start to think that we aren't good enough for God to love us, we might worry about what others think about us or have fears about something happening to our parents. But when we remember that we have the power of Christ within us, our worries, fears and doubts don't seem so big anymore.

Put on the helmet of salvation and rest in the victory we have through Jesus, today!
